§ 21-36. Parking space reserved for handicapped individuals.

From and after the effective date of this ordinance (section 21-36), the town manager is hereby authorized and directed to cause to be marked off and provided spaces located as hereinafter designated, which shall be marked and designated by appropriate signs as "reserved for handicapped parking." Each of the spaces hereinafter designated when so marked shall be for exclusive use for parking by a vehicle operated by or for the immediate benefit of a handicapped individual, and which said vehicle when using said space shall display an emblem to be provided by the State of North Carolina or other authorized agency indicating that said vehicle is being operated by or for the immediate benefit of such handicapped person and it shall be unlawful for other vehicles to park in such spaces. The time limits established in the parking meter zone shall not be applicable to the parking spaces reserved for handicapped individuals. The places to be designated and marked are as follows:

The metered parking space located on the north side of East Franklin Street four hundred thirty-four (434) feet east of the east curbline of North Columbia Street, which is approximately forty-two (42) feet east of the crosswalk.

(2)

The parking space located on the north side of West Franklin Street two hundred fifty (250) feet west of the centerline of Kenan Street.

(3)

The parking spaces so marked within the municipal parking lots.

(4)

A parking space on the east side of Hamilton Road from a point approximately one hundred twenty-nine (129) feet south of the centerline of Berkley Road to a point one hundred forty-nine (149) feet south of said centerline.

The parking space on the west side of Henderson Street immediately north of East Franklin Street.

(6)

A parking space on the west side of Graham Street from a point approximately three hundred seventy-seven (377) feet south of the back-of-curb of West Franklin Street to a point three hundred ninety-eight (398) feet south of the back-of-curb of West Franklin Street.

(7)

A parking space on the south side of Ginghoul Road from a point at the easternmost end of town maintenance of Ginghoul Road to a point fifty (50) feet west thereof.

A parking space on the north side of Columbia Place East from a point approximately two hundred thirteen (213) feet east of the back-of-curb of Columbia Place Drive to a point two hundred thirty-five (235) feet east of the back-of-curb of Columbia Place Drive.

A parking space on the south side of West Franklin Street from a point approximately thirty-seven (37) feet west of the back-of-curb of Roberson Street to a point fifty-nine (59) feet west of the back-of-curb of Columbia Place Drive.

(10)

A parking space on Flemington Road from a point approximately three hundred seventy (370) feet north of the back-of-curb of Maxwell Road to a point three hundred ninety (390) feet north of the back-of-curb of Maxwell Road.
